Cyber Security Specialist

Position Objectives:

This role will be responsible for keeping cyber-crime at bay, using analysis, forensics and engineering skills to monitor and diagnose malware events and vulnerability issues. He/she will also recommend solutions, including hardware and software programs that can help mitigate risk. The role will defend computers, servers, mobile devices, electronic systems, networks, and data from malicious attacks and protects these devices from the disruption or misdirection of the services they provide.


Key Duties/Responsibilities
  • Network security: To secure all Tavia’s computer network from intruders, which can be targeted attackers or opportunistic malware. To cconstantly monitor for attacks and intrusions and closing off potential threat or attempted breach or security vulnerability.
  • Application security: To keep Tavia’s software and devices free of threats ensuring that all Tavia’s applications are not compromised. To build in security during the development stages of software systems, networks and data centres.
  • Information security: To protect the integrity and privacy of Tavia’s data, both in storage and in transit. To look for vulnerabilities and risks in software and finding the best way to secure the IT infrastructures of our organisation.
  • Operational security: To handle and protect data assets such as the permissions users have when accessing a network and the procedures that determine how and where data may be stored or shared.
  • Disaster recovery and business continuity: To develop, communicate and enforce Tavia’s Cyber Security policy, establishing business continuity and disaster recovery plans, standards and strategies. This involves how Tavia responds to a cyber-security incident or other events that might cause the loss of important operations or data.
  • End-user education: This involves teaching users to delete suspicious email attachments, not plug in unidentified USB drives that may contain malware and various other important lessons that are vital for the security of Tavia.

Qualification, Experience and Skill Requirements:
  • College Degree BSc (math, physics, computer science, EE, Geology etc)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Cyber Security senior position
  • Must have excellent communication skills and open to learn new technologies
  • Self-motivator with a positive attitude and with high energy
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
